Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream

Clarins Multi-Active Day Early Wrinkle Correction Cream-Gel

Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream-Gel is a light weight moisturiser with a hybrid gel-cream texture. It adds hydration (water rather than oil) without the suffocating texture of a heavier cream or the associated grease.

Why do I need it?

This is my all-time ultimate must-have moisturiser. It doesn’t make any highfalutin claims to reverse the – insert current trendy number – signs of ageing. (Are we up to 11 signs yet? Its always a prime number!)

It claims to prevent and protect. And moisturise. And it does.

Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream-Gel is the shizz for combination/oily skin that has graduated past the teenager troubled skin phase. It deals with dehydration but won’t turn you into an oil slick. Skin feels comfortable, plumped and fresh – like its had a long drink of water on a hot day.

I like that it addresses the first signs of ageing and caters for oiliness at the same time. So often you have to choose between a lightweight formula made for teens or a heavier formula made for mature dry skin. This covers that no-mans-land of your mid 20s to mid 30s perfectly – and beyond if your skin concerns don’t change.

It layers over serum nicely. Makeup goes on top beautifully. Likewise sunscreen (this is SPF free). I have never in my 8 years of using this moisturiser had a problem with the product ‘pilling’.

It smells like baby powder.

To top it off it is also available in a regular cream formula for normal skin, a slightly heavier formula for drier skin, a version with SPF (cream only, no gel-cream texture) and a night cream!

Where do I get it? / Whats the damage?

I always buy mine from David Jones. US readers can get their’s at good old Sephora. Unfortunately the gel texture does not seem to be available in the UK, but the other versions are available from Escentual.com

For once the Aussies aren’t penalised when it comes to pricing!

  • Australia:  $62AUD (about $47US).
  • USA:  $53US
  • UK:  £42 (about$59US) – but Escentual.com has them at the time of publishing for the special price of £36.95.
