Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum

What is it?

Vichy Aqualia Thermal – Dynamic Hydration Serum – 30mL

Why do I need it?

Do you work in air conditioning, live in a dry climate, fly long-haul, get tight skin after cleansing, feel like your skin is ‘thirsty’, feel like your skin is lacklustre/dull/needs plumping, is oily – but needs hydration, is dry – and needs hydration or does your skin eat your makeup upon application? Or more simply, do you have skin? You need this.

Packed with Thermal Spa Water (known for its high mineral content and soothing properties) and Hyaluronic Acid this is one light weight but powerful hydrator. You know that horrible parched feeling in your throat when you’ve slept through a 30°C night in a heat coma in the middle of summer without aircon, and with your mouth open all night? Thats your skin. Vichy Aqualia Thermal serum is the first drink of water you guzzle the next morning. Damn it feels good.

Now just to be clear, we’re talking hydration. As in, adding water. Not oil. So this gel textured serum is good for oily skin as well as dryer skins. Sandwich it under your choice of moisturiser to keep the water content and the resulting plumpness in your skin. Dryer skins obviously will use a heavier moisturiser. Oily skins something lighter, or in summer I (oily) get away with this, followed by primer/sunscreen  and my makeup.

When it comes recommended by both Caroline Hirons and Sali Hughes, you know its going to be good! One would be tempted to use the phrase ‘Holy Grail’ to describe this hydrating plumping wonder serum, but that would be so cliché. So know when I say its good, its very good!

What’s the Damage?

I must say I have never paid full price for this. I always buy it online, in multiples when its on sale. Both websites are based in the UK and the RRP is £22.50 (about $48 AUD/$34 US). Those websites are Look Fantastic and Escentual. Both regularly have 20-30% off French Pharmacie brands, of which Vichy is a mainstay.

Has anyone else used this? What are your thoughts?
